Last week my friends proposed me to make a cameo on a TV Commercial in the US. Everyone on the set referred to the actors as “The Talent” (Where is the talent? Did the talent eat? and so on). I could not stop laughing every time that someone call me that way. Really fun!!!

La semana pasada unos amigos me propusieron hacer un cameo en un anuncio para la televisión americana. Lo curioso es que aquí todo el mundo se refiere a los actores como “El Talento”, y yo me moría de risa cada vez que alguien me preguntaba algo llamándome por ese nombre. Muy divertido!!!

Today I had a wonderful Sunday in NY. I met a lot of great people and among them, one of the best commercial directors ever: Simon Bross. He is incredible. Really passionate, creative and a lot of fun. he took this picture of us with his new iPhone. Thanks Simon.

Hoy tuve un domingo increible en NY. Conocí a un montón de gente alucinante y entre ellos a uno de los mejores realizadores de publicidad de todos los tiempos: Simón Bross. Es un tipo brillante; super apasionado, creativo y muy divertido. Tomó esta foto de los dos con su nuevo iPhone. Gracias Simón.

A few days ago I had the opportunity of shooting some commercials for Global Hue, one of the biggest Advertisement Agencies in US. It was a lot of fun working with all of them, and I am really proud of the result. Besides, I had the opportunity of editing the commercials in Cosmostreet, with Bernardo Revilla, who made a great work. I looking forward to repeat the experience.

Hace unos días, tuve la oportunidad de rodar unos spots para Global Hue, una de las agencias de publicidad más grandes de USA. Me lo pasé genial trabajando con ellos y además el resultado fue muy chulo. Por si fuera poco, tuve la suerte de editar los spots en Cosmostreet, con Bernardo Revilla, un editor español que lleva muchos años por aquí y que hizo un trabajo impresionante. Estoy deseando repetir experiencia.

Spain won the World Cup, and we celebrate it in Columbus Circle in New York, with many Spaniards!

Vaya tela! España ganó el mundial y lo celebramos a lo grande en Columbus Circle en Nueva York con un montón de Españoles.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity of sharing set with Iciar Aragon. She was the DP of the short film Colors, which I directed. It was amazing working with her, because she is really passionate and creative with her work. She suggested me many different looks for the film until we both agreed with the one that would fit better with the story. I really believe that Iciar will have a great future as a DP in Spain, US, or whatever country she decides to work in, because it is not usual to find someone with that level of commitment and devotion.

We shot Colors in 4 days in a Cemetery in New York, with the RED ONE. Pepe Salcedo will be the editor of this short film, that will start going to film festivals next fall. Hopefully it will have a successful round in them.

Hace unas semanas tuve la suerte de compartir set con Iciar Aragon. Ella fue la directora de fotografía de Colors, un cortometraje dónde yo fui el director. Fue genial trabajar con ella, porque tiene pasión y talento en su trabajo. Me hizo un montón de propuestas para el look del corto, hasta que ambos nos decidimos por apostar por  el que vendría mejor a la historia. Estoy convencido que Iciar tendrá una brillante carrera como directora de fotografía en España, US, o cualquier país dónde decida trabajar, porque no es habitual encontrar gente con su nivel de compromiso y entrega.

Rodamos Colors durante 4 días en un cementerio en Nueva York, con la RED ONE. Pepe Salcedo será el editor de este corto que esperamos vea la luz este otoño para empezar la ronda de festivales. Seguro que lo hace muy bien.

Last weeks my friends Toni & Mercedes invited me to a party at their apartment in New York. When I arrived there I saw that they have put the poster of Basket Bronx close to the one of E.T., the masterpiece of Spielberg. It is true that ours is smaller but I though that it was fair. Like E.T., I have very clear my objective. I could even point it, and I feel that my bike starts flying…

La semana pasada mis amigos Toni y Mercedes me invitaron a una fiesta en su apartamento en Nueva York. Cuando llegué allí vi que habían puesto el poster de Basket Bronx junto al de E.T. Es cierto que más pequeño que el del maestro Spielberg, pero me pareció justo. Como E.T., tengo claro el objetivo, podría hasta señalarlo, y siento hasta que mi bici empieza a volar…

Fulgora is the name of a beautiful butterfly that lives in Central America. It is huge and it has two snake eyes on the wings to dissuade potential predators. Besides, it spits a sticky liquid when it feels attacked. The legend says that if you get that stuff from a Fulgora and don’t have sex in the next 24 hours, you will die.

In any case, Fulgorafilms is the name that my friend and partner Mikel Urmeneta proposed for the production company that we opened last year in New York. I love the name, the project and the logo that Pablo Correa made for us. A lot of fun and great projects will come through Fulgorafilms. Let the Fulgora spit you…

Fulgora es el nombre de una preciosa mariposa que vive en Centro America. Es grande y en sus alas tiene dos ojos de serpiente para tratar de asustar a posibles depredadores. Además, cuando se siente atacada escupe una sustancia pegajosa. La leyenda dice que si una Fulgora te escupe y no haces el amor en 24 horas morirás irremediablemente.

En cualquier caso, Fulgorafilms es el nombre que mi amigo y socio Mikel Urmeneta propuso como nombre de la productora que abrimos en Nueva York el año pasado. Me encanta el nombre, el proyecto y el logo que Pablo Correa nos diseñó. Fulgorafilms nos traerá un montón de diversión y proyectos chulos. Deja que te escupa la Fulgora…

Proyecto Corto Canal Plus, is a prestigious award in Spain of this TV Channel. They support the production of the awarded short films and then, show them in National TV for 5 years, reaching a huge audience. Some filmmakers that I admire,  got it (like Luis Berdejo or Mateo Gil).

I was extremely lucky to win this award twice; First, with my short film Revolution, and last year, with Basket Bronx. Our interview was recorded in New York by my friend Jaime Dezcallar. Mikel Urmeneta was interviewed too as a co-producer of our film.

Proyecto Corto de Canal Plus es un prestigioso premio que concede este canal en España. Con él, apoyan la producción de los cortos ganadores y luego los proyectan en televisión a nivel nacional durante 5 años, llegando a una gran número de espectadores. Algunos de los directores que más admiro han ganado este premio, como Luis Berdejo o Mateo Gil.

He sido muy afortunado por ganar este premio en dos ocasiones: Primero con el corto Revolución, y el año pasado con Basket Bronx. Nuestra entrevista fue grabada en Nueva York por mi amigo, tambien director, Jaime Dezcallar. Mikel Urmeneta también fue entrevistado, como co-productor del corto.
