The RED EPIC it’s already in Spain! The new RED camera comes with lots of improvements and new features regarding its predecessor the RED ONE, the camera that revolutionized the digital market around the world.
RedCam invited me to test the first EPIC that has arrived to Spain. Thanks Guaico!

In the picture, a good friend, Jon Corcuera. Jon is considered one of the best DIT of Spain, he is also an expert in stereoscopy and his company, FREE-D, provides the best 3D services for shooting and postproduction of any project. Besides, Jon is a very good cinematographer, with a long experience in all digital formats and a smart cinematographer style.

¡Ya esta en España la RED EPIC!, el nuevo modelo de RED trae muchas novedades y mejoras respecto a su predecesora la RED ONE, cámara que revolucionó el mercado digital en el mundo entero. RedCam me invitó a ver y probar la primera EPIC que ha llegado a España. ¡Gracias Guaico!

BrutalBox, will premiere in a few weeks at the Málaga Film Festival in section Zonazine. Filmed in 2010, and directed by Oscar Rojo, BrutalBox is the first feature film that I made as cinematographer. I´m very happy with the news and wanted to congratulate the whole team. It was a pleasure to share this experience with you. Here you can see the teaser, and I invite you, if you are in Malaga during the festival, to wach the movie there.

BrutalBox, se estrenará dentro de pocas semanas en el Festival de cine de Málaga en la sección Zonazine. Rodada en 2010, y dirigida por Oscar Rojo, BrutalBox es el primer largometraje en el que realicé la dirección de fotografía. Estoy muy contento con la noticia y quería felicitar desde aquí a todo el equipo. Fue un placer compartir esa experiencia con vosotros. Enhorabuena a todos! Os dejo como adelanto el trailer, y os invito, si estáis por Málaga durante el festival, a que os acerquéis a ver la película.

We just finished the post production of “The Descent“, the last short film of the director and friend Daniel Romero, produced by Kamel Films. As usual, it has been a pleasure working with Dani, the shooting was fun and in color correction we achieved the exact look we were looking for.

I want to thank to the Filmbakers team and especially to Juan Ignacio Cabrera, colorist of the short film. Juan Ignacio is a color master and like a person is even better. He has been correcting color feature films as “A Sad Trumpet Ballad” of Alex de la Iglesia, he is a stereoscopy expert . I’m sure his name will sound very loud internationally very soon.

Quiero agradecer al equipo de Filmbakers y en especial a Juan Ignacio Cabrera, colorista del corto, el trabajo realizado. Juan Ignacio es un maestro y como persona es aun mejor, además de haber corregido color de largometrajes tan importantes como Balada triste de trompeta, de Alex de la Iglesia, es un experto en estereoscopía. Estoy seguro de que su nombre sonará muy fuerte internacionalmente dentro de muy poco.

Aaton Penelope is the first 35mm camera that can shoot in 2 perforations in 2’35: 1. This means a 50% saving in negative and lab cost, and makes shooting in 35mm even cheaper than 16mm. Penelope is a strong impetus forlovers of film fighting against the digital technology.

Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema has completed the principal photography on The Fighter using Aaton Penelope cameras configured for 2-perf.

Aaton Penelope es la primera cámara que permite rodar 35mm  en 2 perforaciones en 2’35:1 nativo. Esto significa que con 300 mts / 1000 ft se pasaría de rodar 10 min a rodar casi 22 min, esto supone un ahorro significativo a la hora de rodar y revelar el negativo y es incluso más económico que rodar en 16mm. Penelope es un impulso fuerte para los amantes del celuloide que luchan en contra de la tecnología digital.

Our new project “Voice Over” has won the best short film production project award in “Almería en corto“ Film Festival: The jury value Voice Over for “the bold and ambitious production proposal from a fascinating screenplay to a very talented visual director as Martin Rosete”

We had the opportunity to meet great people during the Festival. Thanks to the organization and the jury for the prize and their treatment.

Nuestro nuevo proyecto “Voice Over” se ha alzado con el Premio al mejor proyecto de producción de cortometraje en el Festival “Almería en corto” 2010: El jurado ha valorado Voice Over por: “la atrevida y ambiciosa propuesta de producción a partir de un guión fascinante para un director con gran talento visual como es Martín Rosete”

Además tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer a gente fantástica. Gracias a la organización y al jurado por el premio y por el trato recibido.

I know. The picture is not the best, but the happiness for everyone in Kamel Films is so huge, that I wanted to share the news with all of you. Last weekend, Jaime Cid and Maria Boix, producers of Kamel Films, went to the ceremony award of one of the most important film festivals in Spain: Gijon. There they met Koldo Zuazua, and together, they got the great news: Voice Over, our amazing project for next year won the Canal Plus Award what is a great support for us, and the first step to bring this movie to life.

The scrip is a master piece written by Luis Berdejo. One of the best presents that I ever got, but I don’t wanna tell you more about it now. We will have a lot of time to speak about it. Tons of illusion and work are waiting…

Lo sé. La foto no es lo mejor, pero la alegría para la gente de Kamel Films es tan grande, que quería compartirla con todos vosotros. El pasado fin de semana, Jaime Cid y María Boix, productores de Kamel Films, acudieron a la ceremonia de clausura de uno de los festivales más importantes del panorama español: Gijón. Allí se encontraron con Koldo Zuazua y juntos recibieron la gran noticia: nuestro proyecto para el año que viene, Voice Over, había ganado el Premio Proyecto Corto de Canal Plus, lo que realmente es un gran empujón para hacer que este corto vea la luz.

El guión es una obra de arte de Luis Berdejo y es uno de los mejores regalos que jamás me han dado, pero no daremos más detalles por ahora. Ya habrá tiempo de hablar del proyecto. Toneladas de ilusión y trabajo por delante…

Christmas is ahead of us! This week I’m shooting 3 toy spots for Bandai‘s Christmas campaign. They are 3 really cool toys that will surely thrill the small ones because they are branded by the popular Young-adults TV series “Patito feo“. Soon airing on all Spanish networks.

¡Se nos ha adelantado la navidad! Esta semana estoy inmerso en el rodaje de 3 spots de juguetes para la campaña de navidad de Bandai. Son 3 juguetes muy chulos que seguro que arrasan entre los más pequeños, porque están esponsorizados por una de las series más populares del momento “Patito feo“. Pronto los podremos ver en las televisiones de toda España.
